EMAIL FUNNELS

Are you getting buyers from your mailing list?
First things first… you don’t need a massive mailing list or following to have a successful campaign. Yes, it helps but even if you have 1 million strong following, if they aren’t your ideal target audience, you won’t get many sales.
So what is important then?
1: Your lead magnet
This is the place that you tempt people to sign up to your mailing list. This could be a Facebook ad, Instagram post or sales page as examples. You should aim to offer a free magnet of huge benefit. This could be an ebook, checklist, resource sheet, guide or video training as examples.
If you are a fitness coach; a list of 5 easy to prepare healthy meals would be a good free lead magnet.
2: Your welcome email
This is often missed in campaigns. A huge mistake as it is the place where you can connect to your ideal target audience and share your story.
Going back to our fitness coach; you’d write about your own fitness journey and how your life has been changed by exercise.
3: Your funnel
This can be as long as you want. Normally three is the minimum. This is the place to let your audience be educated about your service/product in an interesting and engaging way. This is not the place for sales!
4: The offer
This is the sales page. It’s the place to share what your offer is. It should be an offer that can’t be bought by any other means other than this email. It obviously should also be really good. A discount or bundle are usually the most commonly used offers.
5: Last chance
A little prompt to remind readers about the offer; that it’s time-sensitive and how it benefits them.
This is a basic template to give you an idea about what an email sales funnel involves. You can have this as simple or elaborate as you see fit. Funnels can start where others end. It can keep on going for years or be a 2-week launch series. The choice is yours and should fit with what you are trying to achieve.
(not the scientific ones – unless that’s what you’re selling!)
Quick Read Summary:
Create an enticing lead magnet.
Make it easy for people to access that magnet.
Have a fantastic offer.
Always think about how you are benefiting the reader.
TOP TIP: a Büchner funnel is used in laboratories to filter out unwanted substances. Don’t worry if your email funnel does the same. Unsubscribers are unwanted just the same. In some ways it’s actually wanted as they are letting you know they are not interested (not your target audience) so you don’t have to spend time and money (most email platforms charge based on how many emails you have) trying to get them to change their minds. Leaving you to focus on the people who love your product/service and want to learn more and be guided to a purchase.
